Christian Roberto López Rodríguez breaks his own record for fastest 100 m backwards in high heels.
A serial speedster has claimed his latest running record. And he did it backwards, while wearing high heels.
Christian Roberto López Rodríguez (Spain) risked blisters and sprained ankles to claim the fastest 100 m backwards in high heels with an impressive time of 16.55 seconds.
He broke his own record of 20.05 seconds that he had set on our Spanish TV show La Noche De Los Récords.
Rules of the record say the shoes must have heels of at least 7 cm (2.76 in), and they cannot be any wider than 1.5 cm (0.59 in) at the tip. Platforms are not permitted.
Christian lined up on the starting line, facing away from his destination.
In a pair of blue high heels, that he paired with blue socks, red shorts, and a pink and blue long-sleeved top, he sped off as the clock started ticking.
Click-clacking down the road, he ran as fast as he could while looking fabulous.
After crossing the finish line, he took his shoes off to experience that sheer relief of freeing your feet after a long day.
Christian is a serial record breaker with over 80 titles to his name currently.
And this record sprint was well within his wheelhouse, as he also holds records for:
- Fastest 400 m in clogs. 1 min 1.38 sec
- Fastest 100 m wearing flip flops. 12.10 sec
- Fastest mile travelled balancing a pool cue on finger. 5 min 52.30 sec
- Fastest 100 m on a space hopper (male). 29.91 sec
- Fastest 100 m carrying an egg on a spoon in the mouth. 17.21 sec
- Fastest 50 m backwards wearing swim fins. 8.82 sec
